WHAT IS PFAS?
PFAS, or Per- and Polyfluoroalkyl Substances, are chemicals found in products like non-stick cookware and waterproof clothing since the 1950s. Dubbed "forever chemicals," they're linked to health issues in humans including increased cholesterol, liver damage, immune effects, reduced fertility, and cancer risks. Exposure mainly occurs through contaminated water, food packaging, and consumer products. While regulatory efforts aim to reduce human exposure, the substances' persistence in the body poses ongoing health concerns.
